The developers of Age of Empires have revealed exciting news today, including new content for multiple games and the franchise’s milestone of reaching 60 million players globally. One of the most significant announcements was that Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be coming to PlayStation 5. This is a big departure from the past, as Age of Empires has been a Microsoft-exclusive production for many years now, however, this is in line with previous releases such as the Forza Horizon 5.

Age of Empires Announces PS5 Titles, New Expansions, and Updates Coming Soon

On March 4, Age of Mythology: Retold sets foot on PS5 with the Immortal Pillars expansion. It adds new maps, myth units, and gameplay features, including the Chinese pantheon. Players can now pre-order the expansion, which will be free on launch day for players who own the Premium Edition of the game. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be released on PS5 in the Spring, with content parity across all platforms and crossplay support.

This version of the game will allow a much wider audience to experience the classic hit that is currently available on the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, and Steam. In addition, two distinct Age of Empires IV DLC will arrive in 2024, with the initial edition, Knights of Cross and Rose, launching in Spring 2025. The second DLC, after the first comes out, will include a new army, a solo experience, et cetera.

As for Age of Empires Mobile players, February is bringing the game a new campaign, Battle of Dawn, along with an event titled Stellar Glory. Exclusives for Valentine’s Day will include new cosmetics and a limited-time event, Princess Josephin’s Treasure Hunt. Further details and screenshots are available on the official Age of Empires website, along with concept art and a gift code for mobile players.
