## How Is It Connected to the Original Series?

This is the big question fans are asking — and the answer is reassuringly satisfying. *Adventure Time: Side Quests* takes the franchise back to the early days when Finn was just a kid, excited to fight monsters and go on epic quests with his best buddy Jake. In stand-alone episodes, our heroes take on classic Adventure Time villains like The Ice King and re-connect with stand-out side characters from the original series.

The series is an attempt to return to the spirit of *Adventure Time*‘s earliest seasons, when surreal, imaginative humor and poignant storytelling were the focus of light, episodic, sometimes silly adventures. Think of it less as a reboot and more as a loving return to the show’s joyful roots — the kind of episodes you could watch with your little sibling or your own kids without needing any prior lore knowledge. This new series was designed to introduce a new generation of fans to the Adventure Time universe through lighter, self-contained adventures. Longtime fans get nostalgia; newcomers get a perfect entry point. It’s a win-win. [Everett Post](https://www.everettpost.com/entertainment/adventure-time-side-quests-gets-disney-hulu-release-date/)

## Returning Cast — The Voices You Know and Love

Finn the Human is voiced by Sasha Knight, and John DiMaggio returns as the voice of Jake the Dog. The series will also reunite fan-favorite characters, including Ice King (Tom Kenny), Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), Marceline (Olivia Olson), and BMO (Niki Yang). The return of the original voice cast for nearly every major character gives *Side Quests* an authentic feel that spinoffs sometimes fail to capture.

## What Makes This Different from Other Spinoffs?

The original *Adventure Time* series ran for 10 seasons on Cartoon Network while its other spinoffs, *Adventure Time: Distant Lands* and *Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake*, were released on HBO Max. Those spinoffs leaned into deeper lore and more mature storytelling. *Side Quests*, by contrast, deliberately keeps things lighter and more episodic — much closer in spirit to what the [Adventure Time](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_Time) universe felt like back in its early fan-favourite seasons. Besides *Side Quests*, an *Adventure Time* movie is also in development, along with *Adventure Time: Hey BMO* — making this a genuinely exciting period for fans of the franchise across all age groups.
