Kerala Blasters are expected to offer their star player and captain Adrian Luna a new three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2027. The Uruguayan joined the side in 2021 and has emerged as a vital part of their success, becoming a favourite among the fans and a leader in the locker room.
The captain’s absence was strongly felt in the team last night as Punjab FC defeated the Yellow Army 3-1. But he could only watch in from the stands, as he is still recovering from a serious injury sustained a few weeks ago.
Kerala Blasters offer Adrian Luna new contract until 2027Â
Keeping the talismanic midfielder at the club must have been one of the most important tasks for the management over the past few months. And it now seems like they have been able to achieve that task, with reports that the player has accepted the proposal.
An official statement is yet to confirm whether Luna will indeed stay at Kerala next season. But, fans can be hopeful that he will be with the side and will lead them into the new season.
To deal with the injury to the 31-year-old, Kerala Blasters recruited Cyprus captain Fedor ÄŒernych, and while the player has made two appearances in the ISL so far, he hasn’t been able to find the back of the net.
Replicating the captain’s presence will be no easy task for him, especially given the new environment. And while fans will be hopeful of a speedy return for Luna, the news of a new contract upon his return will only add more momentum to the team, as they look to compete for the league title.
