Acer has announced an expansion of its developer tools for SpatialLabs™ technology, offering more opportunities to create glasses-free, stereoscopic 3D experiences on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices. The introduction of Unity plug-in support enables developers from various industries to utilize SpatialLabs Pro devices when developing stereo 3D content and applications.

Acer Expands Support for SpatialLabs Developers with Suite of Tools that Enable Stereoscopic 3D Experiences

Additionally, Acer‘s OpenXR runtime for SpatialLabs has received certification, allowing developers to employ OpenXR protocols when building stereo 3D content and applications on SpatialLabs’ commercial displays. The Acer SteamVR Bridge facilitates the utilization of stereo 3D for VR application developers, enhancing immersive experiences on SpatialLabs Pro devices.

Pro Suite Developer Program: Unity Plug-in

Acer has expanded its support by launching the Unity plug-in, enabling more creators in fields such as education, architecture, construction, and medicine to leverage the Unity plug-in’s existing tools and verticals. This empowers professional developers to enhance their experiences and present models in true 3D on Acer SpatialLabs Pro Devices, without the need for specialized glasses.

Acer OpenXR Runtime

Acer‘s OpenXR Runtime has achieved conformance, making SpatialLabs Pro devices compliant with OpenXR. As a member and contributor of the Khronos OpenXR working group, Acer is committed to open standards and aims to build an accessible ecosystem for its hardware solutions.

This milestone benefits the extended reality (XR) developer community by providing additional device options for showcasing high-resolution, glasses-free stereoscopic 3D creations. Content and application creators can benefit from OpenXR’s cross-platform, high-performance API, combined with Acer‘s expertise in delivering immersive, stereoscopic 3D visuals through SpatialLabs. The OpenXR runtime is also available for Acer SpatialLabs Pro device users to utilize OpenXR-compatible applications, such as Autodesk VRED and Blender.

Acer SteamVR Bridge

Acer‘s proprietary SteamVR Bridge driver enables developers of VR applications to convert their creations on Acer’s SpatialLabs Pro devices, delivering captivating imagery and clarity to users without the need for VR headsets. SpatialLabs Pro device users can also leverage the Acer SteamVR Bridge in conjunction with NVIDIA Omniverse™ to streamline workflows and expand their viewing options for enhanced stereo 3D projection of complex graphics, visual effects, and simulations.
