AC Milan have made a tremendous start to the season, sitting on top of the Serie A league table with 20 points from their first eight games. What were a few years of struggle for the Rossoneri now seem to be coming together for Stefano Pioli’s men, who are looking like a galvanized unit ever since the lockdown was lifted.
And if latest news reports are to be believed, then they could be looking to retain some important young players who will play a key part in the club’s short term future.
One such player is young Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. He has been with the team for a few years now and has become a permanent fixture on Milan’s team sheet.
Speaking about his future, he stated, “I want to stay at AC Milan, for sure. My agent will talk about my contract with the board. Mino Raiola knows what he has to do”.
Similarly, recent signing Brahim Diaz has also shown sparks of brilliance in the Italian league and looks a good loan move, but the team want to convert his time into a permanent transfer.
The club’s sporting director Frederic Massara was quoted as saying, “We’re so happy with Brahim Diaz, he’s having a great start with us. We’re planning to meet Real Madrid on next months to open talks about Brahim’s future”.
Recent times have seen Milan struggle in terms of building a capable squad that could compete across all competitions. But it seems like slowly but steadily they are making smarter choices in their investment and players transfers’ policy.
Many have suggested that Milan could be serious title contenders this season itself with the likes of Romagnoli, Ibrahimovic, Rebic and Calhanoglu providing a decent base to their core group in the dressing room. If all goes well, then we could see two more players extend their futures at the seven-time UCL champions and marshall the club to greater heights.
