Zlatan Ibrahimovic has officially extended his contract with AC Milan for another year, and the player’s new deal will run until June 2022. The Swedish striker rejoined AC Milan in the winter of 2020, and things have since been on the up for the Rossoneri.
This season, Zlatan has appeared in 17 games in the Serie A and has just as many goal contributions in the league, scoring 15 and assisting 2. While his age has restricted him from being consistent throughout the season, his fitness has been absolutely outstanding whenever he has taken the pitch.
The striker will turn 40 later this year and still play in one of Europe’s top five leagues. This goes to show how special his abilities truly are. Additionally, he is the first player in history to return to Europe from MLS and still be one of the top scorers in the domestic league.
His performances have also set up a return to the Swedish national team, with Ibrahimovic being handed a return in the most recent international break. Although he is currently out injured, Milan’s last six games of the season will be essential in securing a return to the Champions League.
Atalanta and Juventus are only one point behind the Rossoneri, and they will have to make the most of every coming game if they hope to secure the top tier of European football next season amidst a very difficult financial climate.
