Well, another day, another new rumour is on the cards that involve Barcelona’s record signing Philippe Coutinho. It is now being rumoured that AC Milan is interested in the Brazilian and a swap with Alessio Romagnoli; however, there are no talks going on between the clubs.

It was first reported by Diario SPORT that Milan is interested in signing Coutinho or Miralem Pjanić from Barcelona. However, they currently lack the money to pay the big salaries on top of that a big transfer fee. These days, most clubs are doing swap deals as the effects of the pandemic in the transfer market aren’t over yet.

What has made AC Milan desperate is Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s exit to Inter Milan on a free transfer, and so they are keen on a player that could play in that role, and Coutinho is rumoured to be a perfect fit.

On the other hand, for Barcelona, their search for a midfielder is not over, and Ronald Koeman is desperate to strengthen his defence. Indeed, AC Milan’s Romagnoli has been on Barcelona’s radar for quite some time now as he is a left-footed player and with international experience.

Alessio Romagnoli has that physical strength that Koeman is desperate to find in a centre back, and Barcelona needs one as they are looking to part ways with Samuel Umtiti.

Obviously, Barcelona is looking to offload big names, including Coutinho, who has been out with an injury, which would really help to renew Messi’s contract. However, the reliable Fabrizio Romano has pointed out that there are no talks between the clubs, but Barcelona look desperate to sell Coutinho this summer.
