AC Milan are close to agreeing a deal with AZ Alkmaar for the signing of Tijjani Reijnders. The player is keen on the move and personal terms are not expected to be a problem. The bid from the Serie A club is worth €19 million while AZ Alkmaar are holding out for €20 million.

Only the structure of the deal remains to be sorted since the two clubs are very close to the valuation. As a result, a final agreement can be expected soon to sanction the move.

The 24-year-old stands at 6ft tall, and will be able to provide a physical presence to Milan’s midfield, which has been missing for a while. He has been with the AZ first team since 2020, and is now set to make the step up to one of the top leagues in Europe. He is predominantly a creative midfielder, but will also be expected to have a controlling presence in the central areas.

The Rossoneri recently sold Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United for a record fee worth €70 million. And they are now reinvesting the amount they received, having already signed Ruben Loftus Cheek from Chelsea to replace the Italian.

Now, they are planning to add Tijjani Reijnders to their ranks as well in order to reinforce their midfield. This would allow them to replace the creative influence provided by Tonali and would help them challenge for the Scudetto once again.

Milan are also in the race to sign Daichi Kamada, Adama Traore and Christian Pulisic this summer. However, they are yet to finalise an agreement with any of the players even though Traore and Kamada are available on a free move.
