The friendly fixture between AC Milan and Real Madrid finished goalless, but the match was a very entertaining watch for patrons and neutrals alike.

Both managers fielded the majority of their starting XI. In case of Real Madrid, Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo started for Carlo Ancelotti and by the looks of things, they could be reintegrated in the squad after being on the verge of leaving under Zinedine Zidane.

Karim Benzema was absent from the lineup, and Luka Jovic was given the first half to display his prowess. He was taken off at half time to make way for Reinier Jesus. Ancelotti fielded a centre-back partnership of Nacho and David Alaba while Stefano Piolo deployed captain Romagnoli and Fikayo Tomori.

The match started really fast, with Real Madrid creating more chances, as the more attacking team. Gareth Bale and Rodrygo were particularly influential in Madrid’s offence, but they were unable to achieve a breakthrough. AC Milan had their own set of chances, but Madrid did enough to keep them out.

The Rossoneri put on a great defensive performance as they kept out the Madrid attackers, and created their own set of close chances through Leao, Brahim Diaz and Saelemaekers. However, their chances were fewer in number.

The second half saw both number 10s, Luka Modric and Brahim Diaz try to score from outside the box. And while Modric hit the crossbar, Diaz’s effort was saved to keep the scores level.
