Aaron Hickey of Bologna is attracting interest from Newcastle United for a transfer in the summer. The Scotland international has the most minutes played of any teenager in Europe’s top five leagues. This season, he has featured in 27 of Bologna’s 29 Serie A games.

He joined the club in 2020, after leaving Hearts. At the time, Bayern Munich and Celtic were also interested in the player, but he decided to move to Italy due to the family feeling that the club provided over a European giant like Bayern.

Aaron Hickey on the radar of several clubs

Newcastle are interested in signing Bologna fullback Aaron Hickey. Potential fee £15-20m not an issue, he’s considered a top talent – but other clubs monitoring closely. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #NUFC

Following the previous week, the 19-year-old’s stock has risen. He was brought off the bench for Scotland’s friendlies against Poland and Austria. And now, he is starting to attract even more interest from clubs across the continent.

Newcastle United are in the race for the player, with his price tag worth €15-20 million not a problem for the Saudi Arabia owned club. Fellow Italian side AC Milan are also keeping tabs on the youngster, with Paolo Maldini hoping to recruit Aaron Hickey as a backup for Theo Hernandez.

Matt Targett moved from Aston Villa to Newcastle in the January window – and is expected to start games for the Magpies. Hickey would possibly feature as an understudy in their squad as well.

As a result, he has several options to choose from. The player has over two years left on his current deal, and is not in any rush to leave Bologna.
