The show that quietly outrated both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon at launch is back in the headlines — and this time, it’s with the first official casting news for **Season 2**. HBO has confirmed three major additions to the Dunk & Egg universe, and each one signals that the show’s ambitions are only growing. Here’s everything you need to know about the new faces of Westeros.

[A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Knight_of_the_Seven_Kingdoms_(TV_series)), according to Wikipedia, is HBO’s acclaimed prequel series set roughly 90 years before Game of Thrones, adapting George R.R. Martin’s beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas — and Season 2 will bring the second novella, *The Sworn Sword*, to life on screen.

## The New Cast — Who They Are and Why They Matter

**Lucy Boynton as Lady Rohanne of Coldmoat** Rohanne is one of the most compelling characters in all of Martin’s novellas — a fiercely intelligent noblewoman navigating a world that constantly underestimates her. Boynton, best known for her striking work in *The Pale Blue Eye* opposite Christian Bale and the series *Apostle*, brings exactly the kind of layered, understated intensity this role demands. This is a major casting coup.

**Peter Mullan as Ser Eustace Osgrey** An aging, proud knight clinging to faded glory in the Reach — Mullan (*Top of the Lake*, *Orphans*) is one of British cinema’s most respected character actors. The casting feels almost too perfect. Eustace is a man of contradictions, and Mullan has made a career of inhabiting exactly that kind of complexity.

**Babou Ceesay as Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield** Ceesay (*Alien: Earth*, *Law & Order: UK*) brings natural authority and physicality to Bennis — a roguish, morally grey hedge knight who serves as both comic relief and genuine threat throughout *The Sworn Sword*. His dynamic with Dunk promises to be one of the season’s highlights.

## Why Season 2 Could Be Even Better Than Season 1

*The Sworn Sword* is widely considered the darkest and most emotionally complex of Martin’s Dunk & Egg novellas. It introduces the Reach’s class tensions, water rights as a political weapon, and a brewing conflict between two proud, broken men. With this cast, Season 2 is arriving with serious prestige TV energy.
