Just over a week after Season 1 wrapped up, HBO’s beloved *Game of Thrones* prequel is already building serious momentum for its next chapter — and the new cast additions are genuinely thrilling.

[*A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Knight_of_the_Seven_Kingdoms_(TV_series)) is set nearly a century before the events of *Game of Thrones*, following the unlikely adventures of hedge knight Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall and his young squire Egg — who is secretly Prince Aegon Targaryen.

Season 1 was a hit. The Season 1 finale drew 9.5 million viewers in its first three days in the US, with viewership up 42% from its premiere. Now, Season 2 is already in production — and the new cast reveals have fans losing their minds.

## A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Cast — New Faces Joining Westeros

Season 2 will adapt *The Sworn Sword*, the second Dunk & Egg novella, with **Lucy Boynton** playing Lady Rohanne, **Babou Ceesay** as Ser Bennis, and **Peter Mullan** as Ser Eustace Osgrey.

| New Cast Member | Role | Known For |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Lucy Boynton | Lady Rohanne “The Red Widow” | *Bohemian Rhapsody*, *Sing Street* |
| Babou Ceesay | Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield | *Alien: Earth*, *Damilola, Our Loved Boy* |
| Peter Mullan | Ser Eustace Osgrey | *Ozark*, *The Witcher*, *Rings of Power* |
| Peter Claffey | Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall *(returning)* | Season 1 lead |
| Dexter Sol Ansell | Prince Aegon “Egg” Targaryen *(returning)* | Season 1 lead |

## Who Is Lady Rohanne — And Why Is She So Fascinating?

This is arguably the most exciting casting. Boynton plays Lady Rohanne Webber, known as “The Red Widow” — a politically sharp young woman whom some believe to be a serially husband-killing old witch. That description alone should tell you Season 2 has serious dramatic potential.

Mullan, who has already made his mark in both *The Witcher* and *The Rings of Power*, plays First Blackfyre Rebellion veteran Ser Eustace Osgrey, who comes into conflict with Rohanne Webber over land as drought devastates The Reach.

Ceesay steps in as Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield — another hedge knight who becomes a valuable ally to Dunk and Egg as they continue journeying across Westeros.

## What Is *The Sworn Sword* About?

Season 2’s story sees Dunk and Egg becoming entangled in a regional land dispute during a summer drought in Westeros. It’s a grittier, more politically layered story compared to Season 1 — and with this cast, that conflict is going to be *delicious* to watch unfold.

Filming is expected to take place in Spain, which served as a key location throughout the original *Game of Thrones* run.

## When Does Season 2 Release?

Season 2 is expected to premiere in 2027 — a remarkably fast turnaround, with the show already in production well before Season 1 even aired. HBO’s vision is for a three-season series, with each season adapting one of the three Dunk & Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin.
