A first custom variant of CMP 30HX makes its appearance

We were all waiting for the new CMP (Crypto Mining Processor) GPUs from Nvidia, and it seems that the custom cooling designs from AIBs for the GPUs have started showing up. We first looked at the CMP 30HX from Gigabyte, which features the mining configured GPU and custom dual-fan cooling. It’s supposed to deliver optimized thermals when running it on a mining farm.

However, the CMP 30HX is the most entry-level CMP GPU that uses the Turing GPU core. It makes use of the TU116-100-A1 GPU core, which is expected to feature 1408 CUDA cores and 6 GB GDDR6 memory running across a 192-bit bus interface. It also includes a 125W TDP and a PCB number of PG161 SKU 90.

Coming to the custom Gigabyte CMP 30HX variant, it has a custom-designed PCB and there’s no backplate on the card but the cooler itself is dual-slot in design and carries over the Windforce 2X cooling solution.

The heatsink is made up of several aluminium fins and has massive copper heat pipes to dissipate heat. It is powered by a single 8-pin connector and has a large CMP logo which confirms that this card is made for cryptocurrency mining.

Since the card lacks display outputs, nothing can be done with it once the mining is over. The card cannot be used in the gaming market and cannot be used for other purposes as a standard display adapter.

The NVIDIA CMP 30HX will launch this month and will deliver up to 26 MH/s in Ethereum. It should cost somewhere within the $200-$300 US pricing range.
