Assassin’s Creed is a video game developed by Ubisoft. Valhalla is now in its second year of post-launch content, which begins with the first two Crossover Stories in the franchise. Eivor from Valhalla meets Kassandra/the other guy from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in these stories. How could a Greek mercenary from 458 BCE meet a Viking warrior from 878 AD? That is, after all, a major spoiler for Odyssey’s campaign. So, if you haven’t completed Odyssey yet and intend to do so, you should do so now.
Kassandra (look, she’s the canon protagonist; we’re going to call her Kassandra instead of Alexios to make things easier) discovers she’s the daughter of Pythagoras, an Isu, in Odyssey. Kassandra is given her father’s staff, a powerful Piece of Eden known as the Staff of Hermes, after assisting him in protecting Atlantis. For as long as they are in contact with it, those who possess it are immortal.
A Fated Encounter and Those Who Are Treasured are two Crossover Stories. Kassandra’s story, Those Who Are Treasured, follows the mercenary as she searches for her purpose after being alive for almost 1000 years. Eivor travels to an island where the residents are afflicted by dreams in A Fated Encounter.
Kassandra will also be grappling with her immortality in the Crossover Stories, as she is only halfway through her over 2000-year life. According to Nogrix, Ubisoft Quebec considered how Kassandra might have changed after 1000 years, drawing inspiration from stories about immortal creatures’ tragedies in developing her arc across the Crossover Stories. And it’s through meeting Eivor that Kassandra’s shell begins to crack, revealing that the mercenary is still at the core of her identity.
For the time being, these Crossover Stories are one-offs, however, Nogrix did allow that anything may happen in the future. A Fated Encounter is free for Odyssey owners, While Those Who Are Treasured is free for Valhalla owners—so you’ll need both games to play both storylines. The Crossover Stories will be released on December 14, and while you don’t have to play them all to understand the essence of the story, you will need to play them all to receive both Kassandra and Eivor’s unique viewpoints on what happens.
