Manchester City’s game against Everton at Goodison Park has been called off as the positive coronavirus cases increased among the Manchester City squad. Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus were affected by the virus before their boxing day fixture against Newcastle United. But that fixture went according to the schedule. But the game against Everton was postponed due to positive COVID cases increased inside Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed the number of Man City players in Covid-19 isolation before the game against Chelsea. Guardiola said, “t was four people, two players, the first time and then three more. I don’t think the Premier League allows us to name the players but you will know tomorrow.”
“We had enough players to play against Everton, we wanted to play but on the day of the game with more cases we informed the Premier League and I personally called Carlo Ancelotti to explain the situation because of the day before we were in touch about what would happen and the huge risk.”
Guardiola did not mention the names of players as the Premier league restricted City from revealing the names due to the privacy and medical confidentiality of those who had tested positive.
But as per sources Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus are in isolation after tested positive on Boxing day. Ederson and Tommy Doyle have also in the isolation.
It is a very tough situation for Manchester City to handle as they have some highly important fixtures in the next few days. Manchester City will face Chelsea tomorrow. The next game against Manchester United in Carabao Cup Semi-final.
