LG Electronics has confirmed the Xbox app will come to some of its smart TVs after the firm forged a partnership with Xbox earlier in the year. The app grants users access to Microsoft’s library of Xbox games, and they can play certain titles right on their TV without needing a console.

The Xbox app is available through the LG TV, LG Gaming Portal, and LG Apps for LG TVs and smart monitors running webOS 24 or later. It will also be available soon on StanbyME screens, LG said. Requires Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to play games that are also available on Xbox consoles.
“Accessible via the Gaming Portal and LG Apps, the Xbox app lets LG TV owners dive straight into gameplay with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offering hundreds of titles from major studios like Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, Xbox Game Studios, and more—using just a compatible controller,” LG said in a statement.
At the moment, there is no Xbox cloud gaming in India. The Xbox app is available in 25+ countries, such as Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and the US. The beta Xbox app is currently available for those with 2022 LG OLED TVs and 2023 models (OLED, QNED, NanoCell, UHD) with software 23.20.01 or higher. LG made a point about Xbox Game Pass, which gives users access to a bunch of games, including popular titles, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Avowed, and new releases like Towerborne. Users can also stream games they already own with this subscription.
In other news, Microsoft has rolled out updates to enhance the Xbox platform, including the ability to purchase games, subscriptions, and add-ons directly through the Xbox app on Android and iOS. Xbox Remote Play is also expanding to additional platforms, enabling gamers to stream games via web browsers on mobile devices and devices like Samsung and Amazon Fire TVs.
