In the ever-evolving landscape of Zenless Zone Zero, character banners represent more than just a chance to expand your roster—they’re strategic decisions that can define your gameplay experience. The 1.7 update brings two compelling S-rank agents, Vivian and Hugo, each offering unique capabilities that challenge players to look beyond surface-level attributes. This isn’t just about acquiring a new character; it’s about understanding the nuanced mechanics, potential team synergies, and long-term value that can transform your approach to combat.

Zenless Zone Zero Vivian: The Anomaly Specialist

Strengths and Strategic Potential

Vivian emerges as a remarkably flexible Ether attribute Resonator, specializing in Anomaly combat. Her distinctive ability to merge elements and create Corruption and Disorder effects sets her apart from traditional damage dealers. The most compelling aspect of Vivian is her adaptability—she can seamlessly integrate into various team compositions, making her an investment that transcends current meta limitations.

Key advantages include her mobile playstyle, unique plunge attacks, and the capacity to fuse Attribute Anomalies for massive damage output. Unlike hypercarry units, Vivian requires more nuanced character rotations, appealing to players who enjoy strategic depth.

Hugo: The Ice DPS Specialist

Damage Potential and Tactical Limitations

Hugo represents a more traditional damage-dealing approach as an Ice attribute Attack specialist. His kit revolves around dealing substantial Ice and Aftershock damage, with a particular emphasis on nuking staggered targets. The ability to perform off-field additional attacks and leverage massive AoE properties makes him an intriguing option for players seeking raw damage potential.

However, Hugo’s effectiveness comes with significant caveats. He is heavily dependent on Stun characters to maximize his damage output and requires precise gear optimization with rare critical stats.

Vivian emerges as the more versatile and future-proof investment. Her flexible Anomaly specialization allows her to adapt to various team compositions, whereas Hugo faces more rigid gameplay constraints. Moreover, Hugo encounters stiff competition from existing powerful DPS units like Miyabi.
