The Xiaomi Mi EBook Reader Pro has officially launched today after appearing in a marketing image originally posted by the Chinese manufacturer. The Mi Reader Pro is initially priced at 1099 Yuan (approx. Rs 12,340) and is available in the crowdfunding process in China.
The specifications of Mi Reader Pro includes a 7.8″ flat e-ink display with a resolution of 1872 x 1404 and a pixel density of 330ppi. 24 brightness presets are supported by the Ebook and it brightens the display uniformly up to 90% for night-time reading. The anti-glare technology helps to read even in sunlight.
It’s powered by a quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage running with Android 8.1 Oreo with a custom skin on top.
Packed with a 3,200mAh battery, the Ebook offers up to 70 days standby and can be charged using a Type C port. It comes with support for multiple file formats, including TXT, PPT, EPUB, XLS, DOC, and PDF among other file extensions. It weighs 251 grams and has a thickness of just 7mm. For a smooth page-turning operation and considerably lower power consumption, the Mi Reader Pro comes with a built-in hardware EPDC controller.
The specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Reader Pro expectedly exceeds the Mi Ebook Reader’s features. With that being said, the Xiaomi Mi EBook Reader which came out last year had a 24-level reading light, 16 GB storage, 1 GB RAM, a 212 ppi HD screen, and an Allwinner quad-core chip clocked at 1.8 GHz.
While Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has released a lot of its products in India, it hasn’t released its e-reader yet and the Indian market is still dominated by the Kindle family of devices. In other Xiaomi news, its new QLED TV will launch in India today, December 16.
