Team India needs to win 3 more consecutive T20Is to break Afghanistan’s record of the longest winning streak in T20Is.

Afghanistan till now holds the record of the longest winning streak of T20Is as they won 12 T20Is back-to-back from 2018. They are also second on the list for winning 11 back-to-back T20I wins from 2016 to 2017.

If India whitewashes Australia in the ongoing T20I series then they will equal Afghanistan’s 11-straight win record and will straight jump to the second spot in ICC T20I rankings.

At New Zealand, the host were whitewashed with two of the matches being won in a Super Over. The win on Friday was their 9th consecutive one, while the second T20I win on Sunday was their 10th in a row. While the men in blue broke Pakistan’s record of 9 T20Is back-to-back, on Sunday.

However, Team India surprisingly is yet to lose any T20I in the last 12 months with their first win going back to December 2019 against West Indies in Mumbai. In 2020, the first T20I series that India played was with Sri Lanka at home. The first game of the 3-match series was abandoned due to rain in Guwahati, while India won the other two games in Indore and Pune and sealed the series 2-0.

India has already clinched the T20I title against Australia on Sunday and now is looking forward to whitewashing Australia on Tuesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground with captain Kohli at the lead with support from KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and Shreyas Iyer in the middle orders. Adding to that T. Natarajan’s lethal yorkers and great support from Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar.
