A Journey that Began in Slovakia

Born in Ziar nad Hronom, Slovakia, Milan Skriniar began his football career at the local club FK, where his raw talent was quickly recognized. After honing his skills at the youth level, Skriniar made the move to MSK Zilina in 2011, where he began to make his mark.

His professional debut came in 2012, and he was part of the team that won the Slovakian league and cup double that same year. In 2013, seeking further development, Skriniar spent a season on loan at Zlaté Moravce, allowing him the opportunity to gain more regular playing time and experience.

Breaking Through in Italy with Sampdoria

Skriniar’s career took a significant leap forward in January 2016 when he signed with Italian Serie A club Sampdoria. His transition to Italy was swift, and the defender quickly cemented his place in the first team.

In his debut season, Skriniar made 38 appearances, setting a remarkable record by becoming the youngest defender in Serie A history to feature in at least 35 matches in a single campaign. His stellar performances earned him widespread recognition, and he was named the league’s best defender in 2017, further raising his profile.

A Pillar of Inter Milan’s Defense

After a standout spell at Sampdoria, Skriniar made a high-profile switch to Inter Milan in 2017, where he would go on to establish himself as one of the top defenders in Europe. Over the next five seasons, he made 246 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring 11 goals and registering five assists.

Skriniar’s consistency and leadership on the pitch earned him a reputation as one of Serie A’s most dependable defenders. During his time at Inter, he contributed to the club’s triumph in Serie A in 2021, as well as two Italian Cup victories (2022, 2023) and two Italian Supercup titles (2021, 2022).

A Move to Paris and Honours in France

In the summer of 2023, Skriniar made the move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of Europe’s elite clubs. The Slovak defender’s time at PSG was marked by another series of successful campaigns.

In his inaugural season, Skriniar made 37 appearances, scoring a goal against AC Milan in the Champions League. His efforts helped PSG secure a trio of titles, including the Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophée des Champions in the 2023-2024 season. Despite these successes, Skriniar found himself seeking a fresh challenge, which ultimately led to his loan move to Fenerbahçe.

International Recognition and Leadership for Slovakia

Skriniar’s international journey with Slovakia began in May 2016, when he received his first call-up just before the European Championship. Over the years, he has become a mainstay in the national team, earning 77 caps and scoring three goals.
