Taylor Swift is coming off what many consider the most successful year of her storied career. From record-breaking Grammy wins to unparalleled ticket sales on her Eras Tour, Swift had cemented her status as a juggernaut by 2024. Taylor Swift Shifts Focus from Music to Hollywood, Film Project Expected in 2025
In 2024, Swift’s accomplishments were nothing short of extraordinary. The new year started with her winning a record fourth Album of the Year Grammy for Midnights, the first woman ever to do so. The follow-up was the blessedly named 11th studio LP, The Tortured Poets Department, which did well on either metric, giving her a legacy at the top of the industry. The high point of the year for Swift was her Eras Tour, which grossed a staggering $2 billion, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time. The tour finally concluded in early December after almost two years of traveling, and with it came growing speculation about what Swift would do next.
In 2022, Swift announced her collaboration with Searchlight Pictures to direct her first full-length feature film. At the time, reports confirmed she had already written the script, though details about the plot and casting were kept under wraps. Swift’s collaboration was praised by Searchlight Pictures, with presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield hailing her as a “once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller.”
With her touring schedule concluded, Swift’s fans are eager for her to return her attention to the film project. And, with no new album expected until at least 2026, there’s speculation that 2025 might be the year production on her directorial debut will actually get underway. Reddit speculation suggests it could arrive in 2026 with others warning that first-time directors’ films usually take time to coalesce.
