Rivals Playing Catch-Up

Paris Saint-Germain, are anticipated to be City’s closest competitors with projected revenues of £817.9 million. Traditional European heavyweights like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich will continue to thrive but face growing competition from the Premier League’s commercial machine.

Premier League’s Financial Dominance

The forecast also highlights the Premier League’s increasing financial muscle, with six English clubs (Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal) featured in the top 10 global revenue projections. Notably, Everton (17th), Fulham (18th), Leeds United (19th), and Brighton & Hove Albion (20th) also secure places within the top 20.

MLS Making Strides

While the top 20 list remains heavily dominated by European teams, Major League Soccer (MLS) is also on a sharp upward trajectory. MLS clubs generated an estimated $2 billion in revenue last season, a remarkable 27% increase compared to the previous year. According to Forbes, LAFC and Inter Miami have both surpassed valuations of $1 billion, ranking as the 15th and 17th most valuable football clubs globally, respectively.

Looking ahead to 2030, Inter Miami is projected to generate annual revenues of £236.8 million, securing the 23rd spot among the world’s highest-earning teams. LAFC follows closely in 24th place with projected revenues of £231.4 million. These figures see both MLS sides outperforming established Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Leicester City.
