The PS5 Pro is a marvel, managing to provide substantially better performance than the base PS5 for similar levels of power consumption. In a new video delving deep into PlayStation 5 Pro power consumption testing, Digital Foundry tested the PS5 Pro against a wide variety of titles: out-of-the-box unpatched Elden Ring as well Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 post-PS5 Pro update.

PlayStation 5 Pro Matches Slim’s Power Usage, Offers Major Performance Boost in Patched and Unpatched Games

One of the important features of PS5 Pro is its capability to support 8K gaming.

Titles like No Man’s Sky showcase impressive 8K modes that not only push the hardware to its limits but also begin to challenge the viability of 8K gaming as a mainstream feature. As more gaming content continues to be tailored for that platform, the clarity and detail in 8K mode may also shift opinions on whether that level of resolution is sensible or even wanted in a game. The PS55 Pro comes at a premium but for anyone after serious next-gen chops in their gaming experience.
