Royal Enfield is preparing to offer a full range of 650cc machines, with new versions called the Classic 650 Twin, Bullet 650 Twin, and Himalayan 650 all on their way. Spy shots of the 2025 Interceptor 650 surfaced just a few days ago, and there’s also a retro-style scrambler which is likely to be called Royal Enfield Bear 650. The name itself has been trademarked in several international markets. Additionally, Royal Enfield has released its first official teaser for the Bear 650.
The Upcoming Royal Enfield Bear 650
The 10-second teaser video provides a sneak peek of the upcoming bike, highlighting its debut date. The caption states, “CAUTION HAS BEEN CHASING US. BUT WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN QUICKER,” concluding with the date of November 5 and an image resembling a bear. As seen from the test mule sightings, the Bear 650 shares its underpinnings with the Interceptor 650 including a tubular steel frame and fuel tank design. It does have different suspensions, though the rear shock is mounted higher to allow for more travel than some other Royal Enfield 650s. Thus, unlike the Interceptor 650 which uses telescopic forks up front.
The Bear 650 will deploy a USD fork on this same unit and dual shocks at the rear with distinctive spring/damper units devoid of gas reservoirs. The Bear 650 is expected to sport a combination of 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels fitted with dual-purpose block-pattern tires, likely tube-type. The Bear 650’s suspension and tires clearly identify it as an off-road capable machine for light-to-medium-grade terrain.
The Royal Enfield Bear 650, is a beautiful machine with minimalistic neo-retro styling that would appeal to the average boomer. This updated model retains the all-LED lighting with a circular headlamp, teardrop fuel tank design, off-road-friendly braced handlebars, and new mudguards that lend it a classic look. The motorcycle also features an upswept exhaust pipe and slightly elevated seats along with oval race-inspired number plates to match its overall styling cues.
The rugged character is further emphasized with specially designed footpegs and levers, along with a unique two-into-one exhaust featuring a perforated heat shield reminiscent of 1960s scramblers. Like the Himalayan 450, and freshly launched Guerrilla 450 comes with a circular TFT instrument display that Bear will utilize to feature all manner of interesting app-based features including full map navigation.
Under the hood, the Bear 650 will be powered by a 648cc inline twin-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC engine, producing 47 PS and 52.3 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While this engine is consistent across Royal Enfield’s 650 lineup, the Bear 650 is expected to offer a better power-to-weight ratio due to its lightweight design, featuring minimal body panels, a two-into-one exhaust, and a short tail section. The Bear 650 will be positioned in the lineup above the existing 650 twins and below the Super Meteor 650.
