Barcelona made it six wins out of six with their 5-1 rout over Villarreal this past weekend. The Catalans have now matched a record that was last achieved seven years ago.
In the 2017/18 season, Barcelona managed to win their first six LaLiga matches of the season under Ernesto Valverde. And now, seven years later, they have had a flawless start to the league once again.

That season under Valverde, Barcelona managed to embark on a 43-game unbeaten run. However, that record is now under threat, as their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, are now 38 games unbeaten and look set to better the record.
In midweek, the club suffered a shocking defeat to Monaco in the Champions League. George Ilenikhena scored the winning goal for the Principality club, leading to the Spanish giants losing 2-1.
However, it wasn’t all smiles for Hansi Flick in the victory against Villarreal as Marc Andre ter Stegen was stretchered off the field in tears. The German goalkeeper has undergone surgery on his patella and will be out for eight months, which is a huge blow to the team.
With their reliable number one ruled out, it remains to be seen how Flick deals with the goalkeeping situation and whether it affects their winning run.
