Sergio Ramos remains a free agent midway through September, with a destination yet to be finalised. He most recently featured for Sevilla, whom he joined on a one-year deal last summer and moved on after his contract expired.

Rayados de Monterrey, a club in Mexico, are hopeful of signing the defender. Interestingly, they have already signed former Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos, and are seemingly keen on signing the veteran as well.

Nueve meses después de volver a enfundarme la camiseta del @sevillafc con lágrimas de emoción en los ojos, me despido del sevillismo con lágrimas de gratitud. Speaking to El Chiringuito, Tato Noriega, president of Rayados de Monterrey, said:

“Sergio Ramos is Sergio Ramos. He is surely the best central defender of the last 15 years in elite football, and it would be a privilege for Rayados de Monterrey to sign him – especially with a view to a tournament like the Club World Cup… Sergio Ramos gives you a plus at all levels, in all ways.”

The 38-year-old could be a great addition to the locker room, given he is hailed as one of the greatest leaders of his generation. He captained Real Madrid to the incredible three-peat in the Champions League.

Which clubs has Ramos played for since leaving Real Madrid?

PSG and Sevilla
