Anwar Ali has been handed a four month ban from football by the PSC following his recent transfer to East Bengal. The defender has been deemed to have wrongfully terminated his contract with Mohun Bagan SG which was for a four-year loan deal.
As a result, he will not be eligible to play till January, when his ban will eventually be lifted. On the other hand, EB and Delhi FC, his parent club for the loan spell to Mohun Bagan, have been banned from registering any new players for two transfer windows.

The two clubs, including the player, will have to pay Mohun Bagan SG a sum worth ₹12.9 crore as compensation, in what will surely be a major blow to all parties. However, the clause between EB and Delhi FC, which stated that any fine for the transfer would have to be split between Ali and the Kolkata giants, could complicate matters.
The decision handed out will surely be appealed by all three parties involved. And while there is a chance that the ban could get shortened if the appeal goes in their favour, the centre-back will not be eligible to play for the time being.
Carles Cuadrat, therefore, will need to rely on Hijazi Maher, Lalchungunga and new signing Hector Yuste, who also made the move from the Mariners after leaving them as a free agent.
While the squad has been reinforced with some massive new names this summer, it could be a problem if they can’t add any new names at the end of the season, as it will shift the focus to keeping their current players.
