Cristiano Ronaldo recently broke another record by becoming the first player in football history to score 900 career goals. The Portugal captain scored in his country’s 2-1 win over Croatia in the Nations League, and continues to impress.

The 39-year-old is the leading goalscorer in international football as well, having found the back of the net 131 times in 213 games. And now, he is surely looking ahead to achieving 1000 goals in his career given his incredible ambition.

The Portuguese recently spoke about retirement, but was quite ambiguous about the length of time he would continue to play for. He mentioned 2-3 years as a possible timeframe, but confirmed that he wants to retire at Al Nassr.

If Ronaldo can continue to be the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League and reach 30+ goals across each of the next three seasons, he would hit the figure in 2027. Moreover, playing for three more years would mean he makes it to the World Cup in 2026, aged over 40.

However, given that he recently scored 50 goals in a calendar year in 2023, he could achieve the feat sooner. And given his effectiveness while coming up 40, no one would put it past the perennial record breaker.

How long does Ronaldo have left on his Al Nassr contract?

One more year, till 2025
