Jawa Launches New 42 FJ Motorcycle Priced from ₹1.99 Lakh

For the enthusiasts, it has also expanded its range — Classic Legends, a Mahindra-owned company, launched Jawa 42. This sportier model is a new variant designed to achieve better appeal among young buyers and hence help sales grow, further consolidating the 350-450cc motorcycle segment for Jawa Yezdi.

The All New Jawa 42 FJ

Further unique design touches on the Jawa 42 FJ include a longer wheelbase, increased ground clearance, and distinctive brushed aluminum tank panels. The robust design features traditional Jawa styling juxtaposed against modern tech such as all-LED lighting and a digital console. The new model expands the 42 range, comprising of the 42 and 42 Bobber.

Powered by the new 350 Alpha2 engine, the 42 FJ generates 29.2 PS and 29.6 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and an A&S clutch for smoother shifting. It is built on a double cradle frame designed for stable handling, particularly on highways, with a 1440 mm wheelbase.

Safety features include dual-channel ABS and larger disc brakes for reliable stopping power. The 42 FJ is equipped with tubeless tires on premium diamond-cut alloy wheels. It is available in five colors, with pricing varying based on wheel choice. This motorcycle is priced at ₹2,20,142 for the top-end variants while pricing starts from ₹1,99,142.

The Touring 42 FJ is available in several versions, all featuring slightly different pricing and options. The non-ABS version with spoke wheels retails for ₹1,99,142 (ex-showroom Delhi) in Aurora Green Matte while the ABS-equipped alloy wheel trim costs ₹2,10,140. The Cosmo Blue Matte and Mystique Copper variants with alloy wheels are priced at ₹2,15,142 each. The top-tier Deep Black Matte Red Clad and Deep Black Matte Black Clad variants, both with alloy wheels, are priced at ₹2,20,142. Indeed, there should be a 42 FJ option for pretty much any taste and purse among the wide range of prices available.

Anupam Thareja, Co-founder of Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, commented, “The 2024 Jawa 42 reflects our design-driven approach to motorcycle engineering. We’ve pushed the limits of the ‘price-performance’ ratio, achieving a blend of edgy performance, stunning design, and precise engineering. As leaders in Neo-Classics in India, the 42 FJ represents our innovative and disruptive spirit.”

Lock horns with the likes of Royal Enfield 350cc bikes, and also rival against models like Triumph Speed Master. The addition of the 350TN to its line-up makes Classic Legends all the stronger in terms of sheer numbers, with earlier additions also including this year’s Jawa 350 and future models like the upcoming Perak as well as new Bobber editions at a later date. With the 42 and Perak, Jawa manages to hit all of its eventual sweet spots while keeping prices competitive across another wave if not class-leading changes which should keep them at bay from rivals for now.
