Marcos Alonso is close to joining Celta Vigo after leaving Barcelona upon the expiry of his contract. The club is close to signing the left-back provided they can comply with LaLiga’s FFP rules.
The contract proposal has been accepted by Alonso, and the medical should be completed once the club has approval from LaLiga to complete the transfer.

Manchester United were one of the clubs linked with the Spaniard after he left Barcelona. However, the Red Devils were never an option for the player. He previously spent six years with Chelsea before joining the Culers in 2022.
Alonso made 45 appearances for Barcelona over the past two seasons, and was often played as a centre-back by Xavi Hernandez. Now, it remains to be seen if he will return to his natural position out wide on the left or if he will continue to play centrally.
