This is the MG Astor, a popular crossover SUV in Spain that has debuted as well in hybrid form. Just recently, we have seen several spy shots of test mules and official pictures reveal the new body nut these changes.
Available in India as the MG Astor, and globally badged as MG ZS internationally, this model features a self-charging hybrid propulsion system (HEV) with an Atkinson cycle petrol engine coupled to the electric motor. The SUV is also powered by the same hybrid powertrain that recently debuted in the MG3, with a 1.83 kWh NCM lithium-ion allowing some pure electric driving time.
The All New 2025 MG Astor Hybrid+
Like always, the 2025 MG Astor Facelift drives power to its front wheels and uses a CVT automatic transmission. The ECO environmental badge from the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) is also included as it emits less than compared to the petrol-only model. The current MG Astor in Spain is powered by a 1.0-litre T-GDI engine that makes 111 PS and offers either a choice of a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. That 1.5-liter VTI-tech engine produces 106 PS and 141 nm and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The facelifted MG Astor Hybrid+ features a refined and sportier design, incorporating the brand’s latest design language seen on the MG3 and MG HS. Changes on the outside include new LED headlights, grille, bumper, and air intakes for upfront; at the back, we find a different set of tail lights as well as rear bumper inserts.
While MG has yet to release interior details, it has promised quality materials and space. Inside the cabin, we should see a dual-screen set-up for infotainment and instrument panel, as well as power-adjustable front seats, 360° camera system, wireless charging, and keyless entry/start. Higher-spec ADAS features are provided too.
The MG Astor Hybrid is expected to launch in Europe around September, with an estimated starting price of €25,000 (₹23.20 lakh), compared to the current petrol model’s starting price of €17,890 (₹16.61 lakh). The hybrid version is anticipated to reach India in 2025, competing with models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and others.
