The Swedish media streaming firm Spotify has released quite a few updates this year for its streaming service. We earlier saw the company releasing the feature to search songs using lyrics. The new upcoming feature lets artists and labels advertise the songs that they feel are important.

Now, however, the company has started rolling out a new update for its streaming service. And this time, the update comes for its app on Apple Watch devices. The update allows users to listen to Spotify music and podcasts directly connected to a cellular network or Wi-Fi. Earlier, the users of service on Apple Watch needed to use a tethered connection from an iPhone to stream music from Spotify. It seems now that things are changing for good.

It has been a long time since Spotify was launched for the Apple Watch device. But the service to date had no support for streaming music directly via the internet. It, more or less, worked as a remote control for the Spotify app on the iPhone. It merely allowed users to browse through their music and control playback, which was highly disappointing. It was a considerable inconvenience to carry the iPhone every time you want to stream music using Spotify, especially during running tasks.

Now, the Swedish media streaming firm is finally listening to its customer base and has released internet connectivity streaming support. The update is soon expected to be rolled out for all the users in a phased manner. It will allow the users to pair their Apple Watch with Bluetooth headphones.

Now, it’s allowing them to listen to Spotify without having to carry their iPhones during exercises. However, the streaming service is still not offering the users to store music and podcasts offline on the apple watch. Apple Music on Apple watch devices supports offline storing and streaming. Whether the Swedish media streaming firm decides to launch, the storage feature remains to be seen.
