Evanilson recently completed his transfer to Bournemouth from Porto in a record €47 million transfer. The Brazilian will be wearing the number 9 jersey at his new club, and was brought in after the club record sale of Dominic Solanke to Tottenham.
The 24-year-old scored 25 goals in 42 games across all competitions last season, and also provided seven assists. He formed a strong partnership with Mehdi Taremi as well, but the latter moved on to Inter Milan this summer.
How does Evanilson compare to Dominic Solanke?
Comparing stats from DataMB, Evanilson actually emerges as a much more well-rounded striker than Solanke. Although the Portuguese league is very different from the Premier League, it shows you a glimpse of his style of play.
The Brazilian is much better in the air, much more likely to assist, more involved in build-up play by receiving passes and is also marginally higher in terms of attacking actions.

Interestingly, they both have the same xG, while Solanke is slightly behind when it comes to non-penalty goals.
This could signal a change in the style of play by Bournemouth once the 24-year-old is integrated into the squad. Given the slow and steady evolution of the Cherries over the past few seasons, it’ll be interesting to see how things turn out for them with Evanilson leading the line.
How long is Evanilson’s contract?
Unrevealed as of yet.
