One UI 7: Release Date

It was supposed to happen in early August, but it’s probably being moved until later this year because the official launch of Android 15 is on the waitlist. A stable version of updates such as September for the Galaxy S24 series flagship models and then other devices following. There are features that maybe only high-end devices will have and not on the budget devices.

One UI 7: Expected Features

A new batch of leaked details and rumors point to a few big changes coming down the pipe for One UI 7:

  • Redesigned Icons: Default icons are round in shape and flat with vibrant colors making them quickly identifiable.
  • Bold View for Apps: A feature in iOS that will increase the size of app icons and remove their titles, with an option to switch back to the conventional view
  • Updated Quick Settings Panel: The panel will contain rounded, pill-shaped toggles to brightness and volume sliders consuming lesser space while featuring an expandable view.
  • Split Notifications Tray: With this, the notifications and quick settings will have different pages in and you can open them from either side.
  • Dynamic Island Style Notifications: Inspired by iOS, a pill-shaped notification on the status bar can be long-pressed to expand.
  • Pill-Shaped Battery Icon: The battery indicator will adopt a rounded, pill-shaped design.
  • Smoother UI Animations: User experience will be improved with better app animations and new page return animations.
  • App Lock: A new feature to lock apps with a passcode or biometrics will be included.
  • Live Activities on Lock Screen: Just like in iOS, live notifications will appear on your lock screen for things such as music or rides happening right then and there.
  • More Resizable Widgets: It will allow different resizing options of widgets on the home and lock screens.
  • CrossDevice Continuity: Notifications, calls & video calls — everything will be synced across devices signed into the same Samsung account.
  • New Camera App Layout: Moving camera controls to the bottom for easy touch access
  • Bixby with LLM (Rumored): Improved Bixby possibly leveraging on-device AI for voice + translation tasks.
  • Rumored Dark Mode for App Icons: Icons might update to a darker theme when you enable dark mode on your iPhone.
  • Vertical App Drawer (Rumored): This one here, possibly part of Good Lock will give a better layout on the home page.
