The Intel Core Ultra 5 228V “Lunar Lake” CPU showed up on Geekbench in a typical score for other chips of its class, but aside from that little else has been leaked about the upcoming core. Several Intel Lunar Lake “Core Ultra 200V” CPUs, including the flagship model, have recently appeared on Geekbench, showcasing their single and multi-core performance.

More About the Test of Intel Core Ultra 5 228V Lunar Lake

Recently, we got a look at the low-end Core Ultra 5 228V that has been tested in the labs inside the MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Evo A2VMTG. We will be seeing a series of Lunar Lake laptops coming from MSI which was previously disclosed by us. As expected, both leaked through the test which shows up CPU scores, specifications, and clock speeds.

The performance points of the Intel Core Ultra 5 228V in single-core and multi-core tests are 2585 and 10053 and offer a base frequency of 2.10 GHz and a maximum frequency of 4.025 GHz whereas the logs show that the chip hits a boost clock of up to 4485 MHz. This part offers 8 cores and 8 threads and is designed to operate within the 17-30W TDP range which is more economical than the Meteor Lake chips.

Additionally, this unit offers an Arc 130V iGPU with 7 Xe 2 cores clocked at 1.85GHz. However, there was no testing for the gaming and graphical side. The CPU comes with the lowest base/boost clocks of 3.5/4.5GHz in the lineup like the Ultra 5 226V.

While this is certainly an entry-level part, the Core Ultra 5 228V puts up multi-core numbers that are pretty reasonable for a high-end SKU from just two years ago (though it’s less competitive in single-threaded tests). All Lunar Lake CPUs have roughly the same performance in multithreaded applications as previous benchmarks suggest, then.

For how the Core Ultra 9 tops out at an already quite high 11048 points, while its two siblings, mid-range Core Ultra 7 256V and 268V score 11031 and 10036 points, respectively That said, performance could be different elsewhere and those results are based on early samples rather than final retail units.

They offer about a 6-12% edge in single-core performance over the 228V. It’s important to note that Geekbench scores can vary for the same chip and aren’t the definitive measure of CPU performance. The Core Ultra 5 228V might have scored higher if clock speeds were optimized. The Intel Lunar Lake series is set to launch on September 3rd and will be unveiled at an exclusive event in Berlin, Germany. These processors will be part of thin and lightweight devices, including laptops, notebooks, mini-PCs, and gaming handhelds.
