Oriol Romeu is set to return to Girona after only one season with Barcelona. The midfielder was signed last summer for a fee worth €3.4 million, and is now set to leave.
The 32-year-old is set to join his former club on a loan deal, with the two clubs currently in discussion to iron out the details of the move. The player has accepted the transfer, and it is seemingly only a matter of time before he is back.

Romeu made a respectable 37 appearances across all competitions in 23-24, but only started 17 games under Xavi this past season. With Barcelona increasingly likely to sign a new defensive midfielder this summer, the Spaniard is being offloaded to make room.
Girona have been weakened with the departure of Aleix Garcia to Bayer Leverkusen, but could receive a boost with Oriol Romeu’s arrival. The 32-year-old has shown that he can still perform at the top level, and with a resurgent Girona competing in the Champions League, he could use his experience to help the team further.
