It’s no secret that Kylian Mbappe is one of the richest footballers on the planet. The forward recently completed his dream move, joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after his contract with PSG expired.

Now that the 25-year-old is not playing his football in France anymore, he has invested in a Ligue 2 club and has emerged as the majority shareholder. The club in question is SM Caen.

Mbappe has become one of the youngest owners of a professional football club in the world. He will spend a sum worth around €15 million to buy 80% of the club’s shares. He will also pay off a portion of the club’s debt once he completes the takeover through his own investment company, Coalition Capital.

The France captain will share ownership of SM Caen alongside Pierre-Antoine Capton, who owns the remainder of the shares and is the president of the club’s supervisory board.

Kylian Mbappe will replace Oaktree as the majority stakeholder for SM Caen. The American investment firm which now owns Inter Milan acquired 80% of the stakes in 2020, which have now been taken over.

Which position did Caen finish in Ligue 2?
