Gomes was on the radar of several top clubs this summer, but PSG quickly raced ahead to complete the deal to bring him in. They have also managed to include Renato Sanches in the deal, with the Portuguese returning to Benfica after nine years away.
The 26-year-old came through the Benfica academy before his big-money move to Bayern Munich. Things didn’t work out for him in Germany, but he eventually revived his career in Lille before signing for PSG in 2022.
The Portugal international was unable to have the desired impact in the French capital, and was sent out on loan to Roma this past season. Now, he is set to leave PSG permanently with a return to his boyhood club set to go through.
