Aston Villa have officially announced the signing of Amadou Onana from Everton. The midfielder has made the move for a sum worth £50 million while signing a contract till 2029.
The Belgian is very highly rated, and had interest from clubs across England and abroad. However, Villa were able to surge ahead in the transfer race and leverage their Champions League spot to complete the deal.

Onana primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, and will likely replace Douglas Luiz in the team. The Brazilian recently left Villa to sign for Juventus, with Samuel Illing-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea moving in the other direction as part of the deal.
The Belgian is only 22 and could develop quickly with exposure to Champions League football in the new season. He becomes the latest to join the Clarets as part of their ambitious summer transfer strategy.
Aston Villa have also signed Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Ross Barkley and Lewis Dobbin alongside Amadou Onana to build a strong squad for their upcoming season. Onana’s squad number is yet to be announced, and is expected to be revealed as the season opener comes closer.
