Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto has left the club this summer after spending 11 years with the first team. His contract with his boyhood club has run out, meaning he is available as a free agent to join any club of his choosing.
Roberto has been in and out of the starting line-up during his time with the first team, but has been reliable whenever called upon. He has played as a central midfielder as well as a right-back, and scored one of the most memorable goals in the club’s history – the match winning goal in 2016-17’s La Remontada against PSG.

Roberto has made 373 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals and providing 43 assists across all competitions. He has won Two UEFA Champions Leagues, one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, seven LaLiga titles, six Copa del Rey crowns and five Spanish Super Cups.
The dismissal of Xavi Hernandez as Barcelona head coach could have accelerated his departure, as his former teammate relied on him as a senior voice in the dressing room.
With Hansi Flick arriving at the club, it seems like Sergi Roberto wasn’t in the German’s plans for the future. Now, it remains to be seen where the 32-year-old goes next after leaving his boyhood club.
