Aston Villa have moved fast to reach an agreement with Everton for Amadou Onana. The Clarets will pay a sum worth £50 million for the Belgian, and have agreed to a sell-on clause in the deal as well.

As a result, Everton will be entitled to a percentage of any future fee Villa receive for the midfielder, which will further raise their earnings from the transfer.

Amadou Onana signs for Aston Villa in surprise transfer

A number of other Premier League clubs were interested in the player alongside Barcelona. However, the LaLiga giants never made an official bid for him. One of the reasons was because Villa were close to wrapping up the deal.

In two years at Everton, the 22-year-old has established himself as one of the top upcoming players in the Premier League. And with his move to Villa, he will now play in the Champions League and will be a vital part of their midfield.

Amadou Onana has agreed to a five-year contract with the Midlands club, and will complete the medical for the transfer soon. All things considered, the Belgian might be the replacement for Douglas Luiz in central midfield after the Brazilian’s departure to Juventus earlier in the transfer window.

Which club did Onana join Everton from?

Lille
