IPL 2020: The conditions for IPL teams to qualify for the playoffs!

IPL 2020 has been filled with uncertainties. Nail-bitting thrillers, super overs, injuries, controversies, records, etc., you name it! It has been everything the fans needed during these tough times caused by the pandemic.

We’re at the business end of the tournament, and it still isn’t clear as to which team will occupy that number 4 position of the points table. To put it in perspective, KXIP were at the bottom of the points table; however, winning five matches has them in contention for the number 4 spot. Three of those four wins have been against the top 3 teams of the points table, namely Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Speaking of the top three teams, DC and RCB needed one win to solidify their playoffs. However, both the teams ended up losing their last game against KKR and CSK. That goes to show the fierce competition in the tournament.

However, there’s one thing for sure. Mumbai Indians has qualified for the playoffs and Chennai Super Kings has been eliminated from the tournament.

The criteria’s for the remaining six teams to qualify!

Royal Challengers Bangalore – RCB stands at 14 points with two matches remaining. They’ll qualify if they win one of those two matches. They can also qualify if they lose those two matches but that will depend upon other results.

Kolkata Knight Riders – KKR with 12 points and 1 match remaining, chances are less. They’ll qualify with KXIP lose both their matches and RR and SRH don’t win more than one.

Kings XI Punjab – They’ll 100% qualify if they win both of their remaining matches. They can also qualify if they win one and if some results go their way.

Rajasthan Royals – Royals will have to win their game against KXIP first. They’ll be eliminated if they lose. If they win both their games, they’ll have to hope that CSK defeats KXIP and Sunrisers don’t win more than one.

Sunrisers Hyderabad – SRH will have to win both their games and then hope that RCB, KXIP, or DC, don’t reach 16.

Delhi Capitals – DC need to win one of their two remaining matches. If they lose both, they might even be eliminated if other teams have a better run rate.
