Colombia defeated Uruguay 1-0 in the Copa America 2024 semifinal to extend their unbeaten run to 28 games. The underdogs will now face Argentina in the final of the tournament at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, for a chance to make history.
In spite of being reduced to ten men for the entirety of the second half, Colombia managed to hold on and keep a clean sheet. Despite efforts from Darwin Nunez, Luis Suarez and Fede Valverde, they just weren’t able to break down the defence.

James Rodriguez proved to be the difference maker once again, extending his tally to one goal and six assists in the tournament so far. And in doing so, he has matched the all-time record in Copa America history.
The midfielder delivered a perfect corner kick for Jefferson Lerma to head into the back of the net. And his goal ended up being the match-winner, in what was a tense game in the Bank of America Stadium.
A brawl broke out between the Uruguay players and Colombia fans, with Darwin Nunez punching a fan in the process. The players said that their families were at risk due misbehaviour from opposition patrons and the lack of security in the area only complicated matters.
