Samsung continues to lead the way in digital health innovation, aiming to simplify health and wellness by integrating insights and metrics for a more impactful and streamlined experience. This mission is supported by Samsung’s BioActive Sensor, which provides comprehensive, personalized, and accurate health data.

Taking this commitment further, Samsung is set to raise the bar once again with the introduction of the latest iteration of its BioActive Sensor in the next Galaxy Watch. This new sensor promises advanced predictive and preventative wellness features that have never been seen on a wearable device before, along with more accurate health measurements.

Introducing Samsung’s New BioActive Sensor

The all-new BioActive Sensor is at the heart of delivering enhanced preventative health experiences on the next Galaxy Watch. Samsung engineers have focused on three key upgrades to improve the sensor’s design: enhancing the performance of light-receiving photodiodes, adding additional colors of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and arranging these components optimally across the sensor.

Samsung has more than doubled the performance of each photodiode, significantly reducing the number needed from eight to four. This redesign has freed up space for a larger variety of LEDs, ensuring their optimal placement across the sensor. The new sensor now includes Blue, Yellow, Violet, and Ultraviolet LEDs, in addition to an increased number of Green, Red, and Infrared LEDs. This integration and optimal arrangement allow Samsung to explore new aspects of health monitoring on wearables.

Greater Accuracy and New Possibilities for Preventative Wellness

The optimal allocation of Green, Red, and Infrared LEDs sets new standards in wearable technology, enhancing accuracy and enabling exceptional performance across a wide range of health metrics. The new BioActive Sensor can more precisely measure key health metrics such as heart rate, sleep quality, blood pressure, blood oxygen levels, and stress levels. Even during intensive workouts, heart rate measurement accuracy has improved by 30% compared to its predecessor.

The inclusion of diverse LED colors and newly designed photodiodes unlocks new possibilities, empowering users to better predict trends and take proactive steps for preventative care. One of the first features to benefit from this upgrade is the advanced glycation end products (AGEs) index. This index serves as an indicator of metabolic health and biological aging, strongly influenced by overall lifestyle and dietary habits. As an insightful biomarker, the AGEs index provides a snapshot of your biological age, helping you make informed decisions about your wellness journey and work towards a healthier future. The addition of an AGEs index is just one of many advanced features planned for the next Galaxy Watch.

Looking Ahead

The next Galaxy Watch is poised to bring more sophisticated and intelligent health and wellness tools, helping users reach their goals with greater ease. Samsung’s dedication to innovation in digital health ensures that the upcoming Galaxy Watch will offer unprecedented capabilities, pushing the boundaries of what wearable technology can achieve. Stay tuned for more updates as Samsung continues to revolutionize the future of digital health.

By focusing on cutting-edge technology and user-centric design, Samsung is set to make a significant impact on the wellness industry, offering tools that not only track health metrics but also provide actionable insights to promote a healthier lifestyle. We can’t wait to show you more!
