Canada have made it to the semifinals of the 2024 Copa America, defeating Venezuela on penalties after the two teams played out a 1-1 draw from open play.
Maxime Crepeau pulled off two saves in the shootout to help his side progress to the last four of the tournament. However, they will face a familiar foe in the penultimate game of the competition.

Jacob Shaffelberg gave the Maple Leafs the lead early in the game, before Salomon Random equalised for Venezuela shortly after the hour mark.
Owing to the modified regulations in the Copa America, the game did not progress to extra time, but directly to penalties after the two teams couldn’t be separated over 90 minutes.
Although Jesse Marsch’s side will be elated to have made it this far in the tournament, they face Argentina in the semifinals, in a repeat fixture of the opening game. The reigning champions won 2-0 when the two teams met in the group stage, in spite of a spirited performance from Canada.
This time, the stakes are even higher, and they have a chance to earn a historic win over one of the best teams in the world, if they can turn up on the day.
Who is the top scorer at Copa America 2024?
Lautaro Martinez, 4 goals.
