West Ham United have reached an agreement with Wolves for Max Kilman, after pursuing the centre-back for weeks. The defender was new manager Julen Lopetegui’s preferred option to reinforce the defence, and he now has his man after a long wait.
What’s interesting about the transfer is the length that the Hammers have gone to for Kilman. They have agreed a deal worth £40 million with Wolves for the player, which is an eye-catching amount considering their subpar performance last season, which must have impacted their finances.

The player is set to undergo the medical tests imminently, and will be announced as a new player for the London club shortly after completing them.
Maidenhead sold Kilman to Wolves in 2018 for a small fee worth £40,000, and included a sell-on clause in his contract taking his potential into account. The defender played every single minute of Premier League football last season, a feat only matched by Arsenal’s William Saliba.
And now, Maidenhead are set to earn £4 million from the Max Kilman’s West Ham move, with Wolves also earning a sizeable profit.
