Barcelona have confirmed the departure of Marcos Alonso upon the expiry of his contract, but have altered their statements regarding Joao Felix and Cancelo.
The Portuguese pair were originally bid farewell by the club’s social media page, signalling the end of their loan spell. However, those posts have since been retracted and the statements have been changed, too, in order to reflect the fact that Barcelona want to bring the duo back for the coming season.

Joao Felix extended his contract till 2029 with Atletico Madrid before joining the Culers last summer. Similarly, Cancelo has a contract with Manchester City till 2027, and joined his namesake on the arrivals list last year.
The Catalonians want to retain the services of both players for the coming season. But, the LaLiga FFP rules have paralysed the club’s finances, and has prevented them from registering new contracts till they clear out some of their existing players.
As a result, it seems Barcelona will not be able to afford a big-money move for either player at the time, and another loan could be the only realistic solution.
