Top 10 Skills in Demand

1.Accountants

Accounting professionals are in high demand throughout the industry, especially at the intermediate level. The fall in the number of people pursuing accounting degrees contributes to the skills gap. Technical and management accountants with experience are in high demand, as are assistant accountants, finance managers, accounts payable officers, and payroll officers.

2. IT Project Managers

As businesses strive to integrate agility and new technology into their operations, Project Managers are sought to lead programmes and steer project outcomes.

3. Executive Assistants

Office support personnel are in high demand across all industries. Executive assistants are in high demand, with experienced and talented workers leaving the job market quickly. Administrators, personal assistants, and receptionists are all appreciated.

4. Business Analysts

Given the rapid rate of digital transformation, Business Analysts are needed to translate business needs into technical solutions, identify areas for improvement, and foster creativity. Candidates must have great analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

5. Business Development Managers

Many businesses are putting more emphasis on sales growth. This is increasing demand for Business Development Managers, Account Managers, and Sales Engineers, with Salesforce skills being especially coveted.

Electricians and Diesel Mechanics: Electricians are in high demand, especially A-Grade licensed Electricians. Diesel Mechanics are also sought.

6. Engineers

Engineering specialists are in high demand across a range of fields, including civil, structural, and grid. With both the federal and state governments continuing to prioritise infrastructure projects, recruiting is evident across the country. 7. Software Developers

Despite the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT, software developers are still in great demand in both tech organisations and across industries. These specialists are in high demand as businesses accelerate their digital adoption, streamline processes, and strive to remain competitive in a digital-first environment. They develop, implement, and maintain software solutions.

8. Procurement Specialists

With contracts up for renewal, applicants with experience establishing panels, directing tender requests, and preparing contracts are in great demand. Contract Managers are also in high demand due to a renewed emphasis on the use of external suppliers, which has fueled demand for experts with experience handling more complex contracts. Candidates must be able to assess supplier performance, negotiate, and manage existing contracts, the latter of which is now relatively unusual.

9. Communications Specialists
