Ruud Van Nistelrooy is close to joining Manchester United as part of their coaching staff, with the deal advancing fast.
The Dutchman is also on Burnley’s list as a potential replacement for Vincent Kompany, after the Belgian left for Bayern Munich. With his former club calling once again, it might be too hard for the 47-year-old to say no.

After retiring from football in 2012, Van Nilsterooy has been slowly building on his managerial credentials. His biggest accomplishment came in 2023, after leading PSV Eindhoven to the Dutch Cup and Super Cup.
Prior to his spell with the senior team, he was in charge of the U17, U18, U19 and U21 squads at PSV. And now, he could be set for a return to England, with a wealth of experience in coaching.
Manchester United will be hopeful of wrapping the deal up soon, and his return will surely help reinforce the mentality of the young team, which has been criticised on several occasions throughout Ten Hag’s reign.
