Mumbai City FC's Apuia Ralte Travels to Belgium for Training Stint with Lommel SK

Mohun Bagan SG have completed the signing of Apuia from Mumbai City FC, with all the documents signed. As per a report from TOI, the midfielder will be registered outside the club’s ₹18 crore salary cap, making Mohun Bagan the first ISL club to utilise this ruling.

Mumbai City FC were forced to let go of their prized asset after the player asked to trigger his ₹1.6 crore release clause. And now, the details of his contract with the Mariners have emerged, with all the signs pointing to him being one of the best paid players in the team.

At just 23, Apuia has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the country. Both Mohun Bagan SG and East Bengal were keen on signing the player this summer, but the Mariners were always ahead in the race.

The former NorthEast United midfielder joins an already stacked midfield consisting of fellow national team players Sahal Abdul Samad, Anirudh Thapa, Deepak Tangri and Finnish midfielder Joni Kauko.

Mumbai City FC are close to wrapping up the signing of Jeremy Manzorro as one of their new midfielders for the new season. They aren’t in the race for Jeakson Singh to reinforce their defensive midfield just yet, but could be forced to make a move given Apuia’s sudden departure.

When will Apuia be announced by MBSG?

An official confirmation is expected in the coming week.
